For Redact: Privacy Screen

Effective date: June 15, 2026

Developer: mLaboratory

Summary

Redact has no ads, no account, and no Internet permission. The app is designed as a local privacy screen utility for Android. It stores its settings on your device and does not send your app list, screen content, preferences, or personal data to the developer.

This policy explains what Redact accesses, why each access is needed, how data is stored, and how you can control or delete it.

Data Redact Accesses

Redact uses only the access needed to provide the privacy screen overlay experience.

Data Redact Does Not Collect

Accessibility Service

Redact's accessibility service is used for selected-app mode. When enabled, it detects app and window changes so Redact can determine whether a selected app is currently in the foreground.

The accessibility service is not used to read messages, passwords, form fields, or other screen content. It is not used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or tracking. Because Redact does not have Internet permission, accessibility information is not transmitted by the app.

You can turn off the accessibility service at any time in Android Settings.

How Data Is Used

Redact uses local app data only to provide app functionality:

Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Redact stores settings locally on your device. These settings remain until you change them, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.

To delete Redact's local data, you can uninstall the app or clear its app storage in Android Settings. Redact does not maintain a server-side copy of your data.

Depending on your Android and Google backup settings, the operating system may back up some app data. Redact does not operate or control Android system backup.

Third Parties

Redact does not send user data to third-party services. The app uses Android platform APIs and open-source Android libraries to provide its local functionality.

If a future version adds a feature that collects, shares, or transmits user data, this policy and the Google Play Data safety disclosures will be updated before that feature is released.

Children

Redact is a general utility app and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes To This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated when Redact changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when the policy changes.
